(Wise) Shopping Splurges in January

If there is one thing you should not be doing in the first month of a new year, it would be shopping. However, there are always exceptions to rules, and it is even a wise move to go shopping for these items in January (like buying gps for trucks!):

January is actually a good time to score some serious deals. Here are some ideas:
Linens and bedding Sheets, pillows, towels and more are all marked down.

Calendars With each passing day into the new year, calendars loose a little bit of value. Savvy shoppers wait a few weeks into the new year to see prices drop by as much as 70%.

Perfume This perennial holiday present usually sees its sales drop after Christmas so stock up before Valentine’s Day arrives.

Holiday supplies With nearly another year until the next holiday season rolls around, merchants are desperate to get whatever price they can for remaining holiday inventory.

Video games Many popular titles are targeted for release in the months leading up to the holidays, and such games see a drop in price after the hype has died down.

Furniture Most new furniture models hit stores in February and August, which means leftovers from last year’s collection have to go to free up floor space for new stock. You may even get a chance to negotiate.

How do you plan a birthday party? Here are some tips:
1. Choose a theme. It is nice to have a theme, as it will be easier to conceptualize the details of the party as you have a theme to follow. The theme will dictate the party decors, the invitations, the cake design, and more so it is important to decide on the theme first. If your child is old enough to decide, you can let them choose the theme that they want for their party. You can also browse the net to look for birthday party theme ideas. You will be surprise to find a lot of birthday party supplies like justin bieber party supplies, Mickey mouse party supplies and more where you can base your theme.
2. Make a guest list. Involve your kids in making the guest list so you will be sure that you won’t miss any important people that your kid wants to be in the party. Make sure that you have a guest list before booking for the venue as you have to know the number of your guests first to make sure that there will be enough room in your selected party venue for all your guest.
3. Decorate the Party Venue. You will find a lot of sites online to order discount party supplies, which you can use to decorate the venue. Decorating the venue will add fun and color to make it more inviting for the kids.
4. Order healthy food and snacks. Serve healthy and nutritious snacks for your guests, especially the kids.

Enjoying Bear Mountain

My cousins posted their holiday photos and my husband was eyeing their north face backpacks enviously. They went to Bear Mountain to experience snow and go snow tubing. It was their children’s first experience of snow and they were ecstatic about it! I hope in a few years’ time we will be able to let our own kids experience snow. Need to work hard for it!

Santa Baby…

I have been very very good this year, save from being stubborn regarding my weight loss :) So I might not be qualified for asking for a diamond engagement ring, albeit 7 years late into my marriage BUT I know I am qualified to ask for the following:

1. An iPad2
2. Jewelry – a ring perhaps?
3. A MacBook Pro
4. Shopping Money

and

5. Some alone time so I can actually sleep after a massage! :)

Christmas Wishlist

I am pretty sure most of the things people blog about these days are all about Christmas! And I am one of them :)

Let’s see:
1. The kids have written to Santa.
2. And Santa has answered back in the form of a video from Portable North Pole. Shocked would be an understatement, most definitely. My youngest can’t stop singing Christmas carols ever since.

While my eldest wished for books (Harry Potter and Diary of a Wimpy Kid), my youngest wished for a Barbie House. Of course, not to be outdone, my third baby (aka husband) wished for the Adidas DRose basketball shoes, in addition to alec bradley cigars he wanted to try.

Care to ask me what’s on MY list?
