Teak Patio Chairs: A Great Furniture Investment
If you are willing to invest on beautifully designed and durable patio chairs, teak wood furniture is going to be your best buy. An outdoor chair is exposed all day to extremes in temperature and all sorts of weather conditions. It needs to be durable yet stylish enough to withstand those conditions.

Here are some advantages of buying teak furniture:
1. Teak has high natural oil content that enables it to prevent cracking, splitting, termites and other borer insects.
2. Teak’s dense grain helps it combat harsh elements such as rain, snow hail, heat and humidity.
3. Teak has been used in ship building for years, because it is durable and its unique ability to prevent rust and corrosion. It made the transition into outdoor furniture when ships were no longer sea worthy and the decks were still in excellent condition. The decks were dismantled and made into furniture.
There are three different ways to color teak lawn chairs. Allowed to age, it will attain a beautiful grey weathered look. Others may want to oil and sand it regularly to keep their original teak color. This can be done once a year. The third option is to stain it.
Choosing An Outdoor Fire Pit
Our next-door neighbors are renovating their backyard. They are going to add a patio deck and a small pool and have been going through different stores looking for an outdoor fire pit which would complete their new yard.
They have decided to get a gas fire pit, or a propane fire pit, so they would not think about where to get wood for burning when the time comes. They can just have a propane tank ready when they need to grill some barbecues during parties or when they need to get warm during the cooler months.
They just need to decide whether to get a table or a bowl. Fire pit tables are one of the most popular designs of fire pit. And its popularity can be attributed to the fact that it can be used both indoors and outdoors, and it’s quite highly portable too. These tables are usually made from cast aluminum or copper and are available in many sorts of styles and designs.
Fire pit tubs or bowls, on the other hand, are known for its portability. They are also considered more stable because of their low center of gravity. This type is popular for home campfire cooking.
Installing Kitchen Pendant Lighting Fixtures for Our Kitchen Island and Breakfast Nook
I am trying to make the kitchen look more inviting for me (maybe it will help me hang out more there so I can learn to love to cook!) and my husband suggested that we install some pendant lighting fixtures on our breakfast nook and pretty up the corner so I can hang out there, work possibly, while I wait for our meals to cook. It sounds like such a terrific idea that I immediately looked for contemporary pendant lighting fixtures for the kitchen.
Installing them would be a different matter altogether as I do not know how to do anything that would involve measuring and hammering. So my husband will be the one installing the kitchen pendant lighting fixtures I have ordered online.
Since pendant lighting fixtures hang from the ceiling, achieving the perfect drop or height for them would be the trickiest part and I foresee that we will be doing a lot of trial and error before we get the correct height for us, design and efficiency-wise.
Placing them too high would lose the great focus that pendant lights are capable of producing, and placing them too low would obstruct your movements as well as potentially dazzle your eyes. The measurement that tends to work the best is to fit the pendant lights around three to three-and-a-half feet above the table tops and islands.
Growing Grape Plants at Home
A friend homeschools her children and their topic for this week are all about trees. They got to differentiate the different parts of a tree and classify if it’s a fruit tree (like ‘Fig trees) or a flowerless trees (those that do not have flowers nor fruits) like cypress trees.
Her children asked her if they could grow fruit trees in their backyard. They wanted to grow some Grape plants as it is the favorite fruit of the kids.
She told them there are things to consider before planting grape plants at home.
1. Grapes require just the right climate to grow. They can’t grow in very hot or cold climates. The warmth of the sun is needed for ripening the grapes. Frost (during cold season) can cause a lot of problems to the grape plants.
2. Soil is the most important factor for growing grapes. The soil should be chosen in such a way that it can retain maximum amount of water. They require a lot of moisture and water.
3. Grapevines require a lot of water. So for the first few months, a lot of watering is expected. Try to water the plants at least twice a day.
4. How will you know that your grapevine is getting adequate nutrients? All you have to do is observe the leaves of the plant. The leaves of the healthy grapevines are dark green in color. If this color starts fading away then you get to know that grapevine needs fertilizers.
How to Save on Mortgage
Paying off a house can really be draining to a family. Many families lose their houses because of poor planning and saving. They cannot pay off their mortgage anymore.
I have read an article on the web on ways to save on mortgage and I would like to share them with you.
1. Get pre-approved for your mortgage, rather than just pre-qualified. It strengthens your bargaining position with sellers and their real estate agents.
2. When rates are high, consider buying down your rate by coming up with more money to finance the mortgage. Use our mortgage calculator to check your real savings.
3. Ask about builder incentives to reduce loan costs.
4. Leave some breathing room in your budget. Consider a smaller mortgage that won’t tie up too much money — not more than 28 percent of your gross monthly income.
5. Biweekly mortgage payments save thousands of interest dollars and shave years off a 30-year loan. Save even more by doing it yourself. Use this calculator to compute your savings.
